I keep getting this warning every time I open the forum:
http://searchinvented.com/?dn=www.swami ... s&nxte=gif\{gzip}

I am using Avast as my anti-virus, with real-time scanning.

See this thread ...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11913&p=138604&hilit=avast#p138604

... I'm not sure what the issue is myself. I have hit the URL to test from 3 different machines all running 3 different A/V solutions, and have not seen any warnings.

I stopped using Avast and AVG a few years ago due to tons of false positives. They are probably better now.

It's a redirect from your browser. I think it's a trojan, haven't figured out what it is yet. May have to do with Explorer 7 and possibly ActiveX add ins... There was another aspect of Explorer that allowed this exploit, can't recall what I did to screw myself....

I have a machine that is down because of this, had to access the drive from USB to get my data back. I run SpyBot with tea timer, it got in because I answered the door for the devil - I'm sure of it. SpyBot never saw it.

Back up to a different drive and rebuild. I tried removing the redirect, couldn't find it. Run DBAN to wipe the boot sector just in case. That's a 3 pass DOD wipe... Be certain you want to do that. Non-recoverable.

I still think it is add in related.

And there are no guarantees in life, all of the AV software will get you close to protected. None of them protect against everything. And you can only run one at a time - that happened a long time ago...

Avast by far is the best anti-virus to date. Ive never had it pull false stuff and never has failed me. Been running on our home PC virus free for around 5 years now 8)

Me too. I love this software. Luckily I have 64-bit, too, which does a great deal in preventing viruses since most are written for x84 platforms.

Boo, you aren't getting the warning with Avast? I have CA eTrust 8.0 at work and don't get warning here.

The problem is Avast giving off false positives. This is not an uncommon problem.

I hate when that happens... many a guy has ended up with a ring on his finger that way.

I haven't had it pop up in a couple days. New definition must have cured it.

No, "We're famous"! Or is that "infamous"?
