Ok first I messed up moved the bike in the garage to change a lite bulb. Apparently the kick-stand wasn't all the way down. Then it fell not fast or violently I tried to grab it. I scratched the Fairing and the engine case. not real bad. I wanted to know if anyone knows if you can paint the fairings and it look ok? also is the dealer the best place to get touch up paint? thanks and yes I am lucky to not have broken a mirror or turn signal.

Touch up paint should be fine. Given I only have experience using it on cars, but it looked decent on some of the plastics.

You can go to the dealer or to http://www.colorrite.com/matrix-step1.cfm?type=2

I believe that colorrite.com has touch up brush, touch up pens and rattle cans.

I suggest putting a bit of touch up paint on a small area and letting it dry before you do the rest of the scratch. That way you can get a good idea if the touch up paint will look right or not.

I use 1000 to 2000 grit sand paper to finish the touched up area - I got mine at Advanced Auto. Use wax remover first to get the paint to stick.

Smooth the paint out after it dries before you coat it with clear. If you do it well, it can be hard to find even if you did the work.

The hardest part is getting the color match. Even what comes out of the 'correct' bottle may only be 'close'....

PS - You can be early warning for us! How deep is it there? :D

No.

Color rite makes the paint for all the US Kawasaki's. You can get it directly from them. It is still expensive but cheaper than getting it from a dealership.

Here is the web site: http://www.colorrite.com/

Just put in your year / model bike. No color codes needed as long as it is a factory color.
